Author Tips: How To Run a Book Giveaway on Bookstagram

If you’re new on bookstagram, you may notice that a lot of accounts do book giveaways. Some do it to celebrate follower milestones, promote a new book, promote their account, or to simply do a random act of kindness. Running bookstagram giveaways is easy, and in this guide, we’ll walk you through the process! We’ll also include a canva template and caption that you can use for your giveaway post! All you’ll need to do is tweak it to your liking.
Prize Selection
Firstly, decide on what you’ll be giving away. Some ideas are:
A book from their wishlist (don’t forget to ask participants to have their amazon wishlist in their instagram bios!)
A specific book that you’ll be purchasing or shipping out
Book merch such as stickers, bookmarks, etc

When it comes to promoting the giveaway on Instagram, you have two options. You can either design a graphic with a text overlay announcing the giveaway or simply talk about the giveaway in the caption of a visually appealing photo. If you want to design a graphic, Canva is a good app to use. Then, you can use a random number generator or a "pick a random line" tool to choose a winner. Ensure that the winner has met all the giveaway criteria before announcing the result.

When you’ve chosen a winner, announce it via posting a story about it and updating your post. Some people also choose to archive the giveaway post, or disable comments, after informing the winner.
