Here’s a basic step by step guide to rebranding a template you’ve purchased.
Step 1 - Create A Brand Kit
To streamline the process, you need to create a Brand Kit. This feature is only available for Canva Pro accounts, so make sure you’ve signed up for the free 30-day trial, or already have a subscription.
Go to Home via clicking the Home icon on the upper-right side of the application
Select ‘Brand Hub’ on the left navigation
On the upper-right, select ‘Add New’. Name your Brand Kit and click Create.
Add your Colors and Fonts.
Step 2 - Open The Template
When you purchase a canva template from a digital shop, they will usually send you a PDF file with the template link. Select ‘Use template’ and the template will be duplicated into your Canva account.
Step 3 - Change The Colors to Match Your Branding
Click Design on the left navigation > Styles > and select your Brand Kit.
Click the Color palette to shuffle the colors of the current page of the template you’re in.
Once you’re satisfied with the colors, click ‘Apply to all pages’.
Alternatively, you can also change the colors individually by clicking an Element on the page, clicking the color box, and selecting a new color. Click ‘Change All’ to change across all pages.
Step 4 - Change The Fonts
Click Design on the left navigation > Styles > and select your Brand Kit.
Click ‘Brand fonts’ to update the fonts of the current page of the template you’re in.
Click ‘Apply to all pages’ to change across all pages.
Step 5 - Update The Photos
Canva has a huge library of stock photos which can be accessed via ‘Elements’ on the left navigation. Use the search box to find the image you want to use. Alternatively, you can also use your own photo using ‘Uploads’.
Choose a photo from Elements or from Uploads
Drag and drop it over the photo in the template that you want to replace
Step 6 - Update The Text
Click directly on the text element you want to edit. This will activate the text editing mode. Simply start typing to replace the existing text with your desired content. You can also delete or modify the existing text as needed.
Step 7 - Download The Finished Graphics
When you're ready to download the template, click on the "Download" button located in the top right corner of the Canva editor. A dropdown menu will appear with various file format options.
Choose the file format: Select the file format you prefer for your download. Canva typically offers options such as JPG, PNG, PDF, or even specific formats for social media platforms.
Confirm and save: Once you've chosen the desired file format, click on the "Download" or "Save" button. Canva will then process your template and initiate the download to your computer.
